Graduate Teaching Assistant

CMPCS 201: Programming for Engineers with C++

The course entails learning to develop and utilize algorithms within a procedure-oriented programming language, with a specific focus on numerical methods relevant to engineering applications.

CMPSC 101: Introduction to Programming

This course teaches the basics of computer programming and computational thinking, including core concepts like loops, conditions, functions, and data types.

Students learn to solve problems by breaking them down into smaller parts, implementing solutions step by step, and evaluating their effectiveness. The emphasis is on understanding problem-solving techniques, abstraction, and evaluating code for correctness and efficiency.

By the end, students are skilled in designing and analyzing computational solutions across various levels of abstraction, using imperative programming principles.

AERSP 424: Advanced Computer Programming

AERSP 424 Advanced Computer Programming is a course focusing on advanced programming techniques using Java, C++, and Ada95, alongside current operating systems like Linux and Unix, and compilers such as gcc. It emphasizes Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), comparing and contrasting OOP with functional and procedural programming, and explores the differences and similarities among Java, C++, and Ada95.

The course includes hands-on programming exercises and serves as a core course for the Graduate Minor in High Performance Computing, as well as a technical elective in Aerospace Engineering.

What I did

  • Taught and helped over 320 students. Evaluations came back at 97% satisfaction.
  • Graded more than 1,000 assignments and exams. The feedback format I used got picked up across the course.

The assistantships covered full tuition plus a monthly stipend.
